Rivers Customary Court Of Appeal Swears In Four Chairmen, 21 Members

The President of Rivers State Customary Court of Appeal, His Leadership, Justice Ihemnacho Wilfred-Obuzor on Monday charged the newly sworn in chairmen and members of Customary Courts of Rivers State Judiciary to be mindful in order not to disappoint God and humanity in discharge of the duties.

Justice Wilfred-Obuzor, who spoke shortly after swearing-in four chairmen and 21 members of Customary Courts of Rivers State Judiciary, urged them not to see the work as civil servant or political appointment but work of a priest representing God himself.

The President of the state Customary Court of Appeal cautioned the new chairmen and members of Customary against being radical but should also depend on prayers to God in discharge of their responsibilities.

Justice Wilfred-Obuzor further advised the new chairmen and members of the Customary Court to tie themselves with the oath office taken and must be abided by the judicial code of conduct just as he urged them to always allow customary law to privel following the peculiarities of their jurisdiction.

Justice Wilfred-Obuzor also reminded the Customary Court chairmen and members that their judgement and conduct wil speak for them but must be ready to make sacrifice of avoid pleasure and losing some friend as well as family relationship for the sake of efficiency in discharging their duties.

The 2023 World Economic Outlook of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), has named the countries with highest debt – Sudan 256 per cent, Japan 255 percent, and Greece 168 percent. 2023 Census: We Won’t Ask Questions On Religion –NPC By Editor Ahead of the commencement of the 2023 census, the National Population Commission (NPC) on Wednesday said it will not ask questions on religious affiliation. In a statement on Wednesday by the Director of Public Affairs, Isiaka Yahaya, the commission said the decision to exclude religion along with ethnicity from the census questionnaire was taken in consideration of the sensitive nature of these issues within the Nigerian polity.
