Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has stated that it was a thing of great joy to be in the presence of the Almighty God at all times.
Fubara stated this during the 2023 Mothers’ Union Conference at St Paul’s Church, Opobo Archdeaconry, Opobo Town on Sunday, November 26, 2023.
Represented by his Deputy, Prof Ngozi Nma Odu, the governor urged Christian mothers to be a shining light in their home churches and other churches in the communities, noting that "the word of God says they should shine in such a way that when others see them they will glorify God.
“As we leave here today we shall so shine in whatever we do, whatever we say and however we carry ourselves to the Glory of God that they will say these are children of God”, Fubara added.
The governor noted that the theme for this year’s conference: “Behold, I Give You Power”, was apt, stressing that “when you have the power of God, you have no fear; when you have the power of God, you have a renewed hope; when you have the power of God, you have faith that what you see today, you will not see it tomorrow, that you can only have a better tomorrow and not a better yesterday; and so shall it be for each and every one of us".
The State Chief Executive implored them to pray for God’s Devine Wisdom, adding that “with wisdom, even when there are challenges, you can overcome; with wisdom, even when you are hungry, you can still smile; with God’s wisdom, things can only get better”, he further stressed.
In his sermon, the Guest Preacher/Women Chaplain, Ven. U. S. Azery, said "our Lord Jesus Christ gave His disciples power against unclean spirits, to cast them out and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of diseases", stressing that "God has given us power against all those who fight against us".
Bishop, Niger Delta Diocese, Rt. Rev. Emmanuel O. Oko-Jaja, who was the chief host, had earlier welcomed the State Chief Executive and other highly esteemed guests to the conference.
Highlight of the occasion was thanksgiving as well as the lunching of the Diocesan Women Project.
