NDLEA Seizes Drugs Hidden In Box-Laden With Food Items At Lagos Airport (see video)

The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have foiled an attempt by a freight agent, Mordi Chukwuemeka Samuel, to export 900 grams of Canadian Loud, hidden inside walls of a travelling bag containing food items, to Kenya at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos State.

The NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, made the disclosure in a statement in Abuja on Sunday, April 30.

Babafemi said the Canadian Loud was seized by NDLEA officers at the SAHCO export shed of the Lagos airport, on Saturday, April 29.

He said when Mordi presented the bag, which the suspect claimed contained food items for export, the anti-narcotic officers noticed that in the course of searching the consignment, the side walls of the bag were unevenly bloated, after which they dismantled the false packings and recovered the illicit substance.

Speaking on the arrest and seizure, the NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd), commended the officers of the anti-drug agency for their vigilance and professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Marwa also charged them and their colleagues across the country not to rest on their oars.

2024 Budget: You Want To Strangle Nigerians, PDP Slams Tinubu

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described President Bola Tinubu’s proposed N27.5trillion budget for the 2024 fiscal year as hopeless and a huge disservice. PDP said if the proposed budget is passed, it will further asphyxiate Nigerians and plunge the nation into more economic depression and hopelessness. A statement signed by PDP’s spokesman, Debo Ologunagba, said: “It is clear that the 2024 budget as proposed with its heavy provisions for the luxury appetite of the Presidency and All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders, which is predicated and expected to be funded from multilateral and bilateral foreign loans and increased taxes on Nigerians, is designed to further mortgage our nation and strangulate the already impoverished Nigerians. “The budget framework with respect to recurrent expenditure vote of N9.9trillion, capital expenditure vote of N8.7trillion, and N8.25trillion for debt services is unsustainable and unrealisable in view of the stated outstanding debt and proposed
